Wow,blast from the past when I was 10. I love this song. Funny thing was I never realised he was Grocer Jack as I was living in Germany at the time and thought he was Grosse Jack.

In the album cover from "Ziggy Stardust" there's a peculiar sign above Bowie's head which reads: "Keith West". I have often puzzled what that is about - any connection with this artist?

My father died around that time. I was 5 years old and heard this song on the radio all the time not knowing the meaning. My mother told me that my father was not coming back either like Jack. When I hear this song now it still makes my cry.

A truly lovely song evoking the sweetness and innocence of the 60's. Unfortunately,, just like Grocer Jack, they wont come back either. .

This is such an unusual song, but nonetheless brilliant for all that. I remember this song so well from when it was in the British charts in 1967. It was extremely popular at the time, and has lost none of its appeal with the passage of almost 48 years.

The lyrics are of a bygone age, where life was so much simpler. By the way, I grew up during the 60s, and can remember a man selling cat food from the back of his truck, and my childminder, whom we called 'nanny,' would buy a slab of it for her cat. The smell used to make me feel sick, does anyone else remember those days!

Oh my goodness, my dad bought this record for my brother and I, when we were kids. I wished I was one of the kids singing along on the TV with Keith West! The lyrics always made me feel sad, boo hoo!

I know we need to move with the times but why can we have music like this now coming into the charts. I love anything to do with how England was is the 60s and 70s

The song doesn't make me sad but hearing it now takes me right back to that small child I was and that makes me sad thinking about where the time has gone

I grew up as a young kid in England listening to this on the radio and watching top of the pops in black and white......I am now Australian and still listening to this song nearly 50 years later in tropical Queensland - Funny how some tunes stick with you for all of your life!!

I heard this Steve Wrights Radio 2 a couple of days ago , what ever became of Keith West , because was a very bold record to make a very fancy piece of production
