I just love the way that Kieth can strecht musical time - FAR BEYOND SWING - He is simply making this standard - a non-standard. Few people can pull that off

Keith Jarrett loses the beat way too easily given the lavish praise that everybody seems so eager to heap on him..... Are people listening?? He has a fantastic right hand, but my god, as Billy Taylor said, "no matter what, it has to swing". Jarrett would do us all a favor by listening to the man...

Bill Evans is my favorite by far but Jarret is up there with the best for sure, I mean it's like comparing Gehrig, Dimaggio, Ruth, Mantle etc... In fact Bill Evans is one of Jarret's major influences not to my surprise! Can't Knock Jarret I mean he is great and great is great!

Musicians can listen "through" inferior audio to content. I'm surprised this isn't the most recorded standard of all time ("Body and Soul" is). The most perfect "Autumn Leaves" I've heard is Bill Evans with LaFaro ("Portrait in Jazz"--ishowing right now on my youtube page). Still, Bill's later recordings on Verve (RVG engineering) and the recent discovery ("Live at Art d'Lugoff's Top of the Gate") do a disservice to his personal touch and the sound of the piano. RVG is great for horns.
