This 7'' is actually a 1965 Decca Records release. Later on there came at least two more singles "Home Town Girls" and "Girl Don't Tell Me"

Before Keith Green became a Christian, he was in Mr. Etezad's French class at El Camino Real High School in Woodland Hills, CA. One of his biggest complaints, that I constantly heard from him was that "Donny Osmond stole his career"....I would just ignore the rant, and roll my eyes. However, I think that God had much better plans, don't you? We haven't spoken since 1970, and I look forward to having a very different kind of conversation with Keith in the Olam ha Bah!

Man oh man! I guarantee you that if Paul McCartney or the Beach boys heard these two songs they would absolutely give Keith Green five stars. That is Beachboy quality music , maybe better. I got to get that 45! Does anybody know how many records he put out before he became a Christian?

Ooooooo, how I miss that crackling sound at the beginning of the first track. I just can't get my CDs to make it, no matter how many scratches I make. ;) I remember from No Compromise something about Keith's "destiny" to be a big rock-n-roll star, but until now I had no idea he was so accomplished at only 11 (or so). This disappointment must have been so shocking. THANKS for putting this up. It really fleshes out his background and how he really was chosen by the Lord for a different path.

JR, The Arista deal fell thru, if you check Keith Greens bio vid, he called Melody and said the deal with Clive Davis fell through, and he was a founder of Arista records....Clive Davis founded J Records and Arista Records, which went No.1 as the most wanted record label on the 2005 Record Label Vote. He has also received a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a non-performer. Thanks for the coprrection on scientology!

Minor correction: Keith had no "roots" in Scientology, although it's likely he looked into it during his search for "enlightenment". His parents were Christian Scientists (a very different theology though both are equally abhorent) and raised him as such. His mother was Jewish which made Keith a Jew under the traditions of the faith, and although he renounced Christian Science he actively embraced Messianic Judiasm through the rest of his life.

It's hard to tell exactly what happened. Both Melody and Hearn have insisted that the Arista deal was still on the table when Keith signed with Sparrow, but that Hearn told him he wouldn't sign an artist who was dividing his efforts between his label and a mainstream deal. Keith called off the Arista deal to accomodate Hearn. Sparrow would later sign Deniece Williams who was definitely NOT going to drop her secular career.

According to what I have read Keith's record deal with Arista fell through and he was not yet converted until in his late 20's after attending a bible study with Randy Stonehill's preacher. He found Jesus after years of searching his jewdism and scientology roots. Finally Keith found Jesus! After that he was offered a record deal wityh Sparrow through Billy Ray Hearns and it was produced by Bill Maxwell. The rest is history, Keith became a popular number one gospel singer.

I have heard of this singer before. I know he was a gospel singer who died tragically young. I have never heard any of his gospel music or if I have I can;t remember any of it, but these 2 songs sure ain't bad. Should have been a big hit for him back when it was first released.

Keith did make it to the big time. The BIG BIG Time. I'm sure he has no regrets. And many of us are still listening to Keith Green. The Osmonds? Not so much.

Wow, I sure am glad Keith gave his life to Jesus. I mean, had I listened to this, had I been alive back then, I probably would have shook my head and thought to myself that he's just one more guy who wasted his talent on himself.

Wow, very intriguing. I don't want to get involved in theological arguments, I just want to enjoy this discovery.

Saved by faith alone. However faith without good works is dead. I believe. If I truly believe I will act upon said belief. If I don't act upon it it is the same as being a non-believer.

Reminds me of early Paul Anka/ Neil Sedaka/ mellow Beach Boys stuff. Even at a young age, Keith was a great singer.

if this is 66, it's his second record, his first is from 65.

I'm not sure the Osmonds were as big a factor in this as Melody makes them out to be. By the time Keith's voice changed and a more mature direction was in order, the Osmonds were still Andy Williams show mainstays tied to a barbershop style, and Donny hadn't yet joined the group. A more intriguing question would be if Keith's ministry would have become as powerful as it did if he'd signed a mainstream deal with Arista as he was planning to do when at the time he joined Sparrow.

So sad Keith almost made it big time and lost it all to Donnie Osmond. Makes you wonder if Keith had made it big in the secular sense would he still have found Jesus and ministered through his music.
