Pete Townshend's tribute to Ronnie Lane of the Small Faces. Ronnie came down with a debilitating medical condition and took all of the proceed's of this album to pay Ronnie's medical bills.

Magnificent. This is the song that turned me on to solo Pete.

A lovely song from a beautiful album. I believe P T. did it to Help R.L. out who was on his uppers at the time. For me the album never got the acclaim it should of, maybe because the cover was so dowdy maybe it wasn't pushed hard enough, maybe it suffered from the same thing a lot of P.T stuff suffered from.....notwhoitis. Anyway for me and many others it's a gem and "Street in the City" is a bloody masterpiece of imagery/imaginary song writing.

I've always been a Who fan and , of course, know all their songs and albums. But it wasn't until recently that i discovered this album. Just great song after another (specially the first 6 or 7). I would say the quality is right there with the Who's best. Although this is not really a Who album (sort of mellowed down). Highly recommended!

I listened to this rough mix vinyl album with my brother so much I wore it out. Oh, I love it so. Transcendent piece of work & musical collaboration. Thanks Pete and Ronnie!

I bought this album when released and have to say it was one of those really different type of albums like an Alvin Lee and Mylon Lefebvre one off album. This record is great from start to finish I especially like 'Annie' and 'No Where to Run'-great songs.

Just great - love the who, but love the obscure little numbers Pete Townshend does.

Ronnie Lane never wrote a poor song, on his own or with anyone else. I can't think of anyone else I can say that about.........

78intheshade is correct. Marriottt and Lane were as good. You need to listen to the words and listen to the melody . What happened to The Small Faces was that Don Arden would not take them to America . Had they thing's would have turned out much differently.

Ronnie Lane and Steve Marriott were as good as Lennon/McCartney at song writing in my opinion
