this has to be my favourite song on this album. so beautifully sung and so sad every time that I hear it.... never tell a scorpio they can't do something. we will always prove you wrong plus k.d. can sing anything. When k.d. lang told her producer, Owen Bradley, that she wanted to sing this (It was originally an instrumental piece, but lyrics had been written to the music also), Bradley told her that he didn't think anyone could sing the song's unusual melody, especially the melodic line of the final "Meet me out of Shadowland". lang wanted to try it, and as can be seen from this recording, sang it beautifully. lang is a very accomplished singer with an exceptionally beautiful voice and impeccable musicianship and interpretation.11 years ago

I solely agree with GuinnevereB, k.d. just has that inexplicable range somewhere deep within that gives her the power to conjure such majestic notes! I confess I hadn't heard this song before, but I had heard a reference to how difficult it is to sing, especially the phrase "...lead me out of Shadowland." "Difficult" is an understatement! But kd lang CAN sing anything. What a golden voice. I love it.12 years ago
