Can anyone tell me if this is an open tuning? I know the bass D is dropped, but I can't get the same voicings on the runs that The Master does.

great to hear this! Always loved Steve Millar's version, but I prefer the old acoustic blues.

Hello you all! I first heard Mr Douglas on the Cook album which I bought in Honolulu in 1957 or 8. (I lived there at the time....) Spent a lotta time learning many songs on that album. I loved Mercury Blues best, partly 'cause my grampa had a 1941 4-door & I was was supposed to inherit same. (That didn't happen....) I hit the folk scene in Los Angeles in 1961; Dave Lindley (still in high school) was often a sideman in my band. He probably learned Mercury from me? He went on to be famous. I went on to learn music in other languages & to get a degree in general ecology. I did finally met K C Douglas at a folk festival at which we be were appearing. Got to tell him he was one of my idols! He was just like most of us--not an ego-head star, but a down-to-earth man. Mike McClellan

Back in the good ol' days, when you could waltz into a record company, tell them you had a new song, sit down with one acoustic guitar and wake up the next day with a hit record! I want to go back! Anyone know where I can find a flux capacitor?

Wow! The original..as performed by KC himself! Awesome post! Nothin' but an acoustic guitar...and a single vocal...and it has TONS of feel! Love this...can hear things in the background from time to time....really captured a "as it happens" performance! Sweet. ~KSKing
