Love this 'Soundie' from Kay Starr, I think it is about 1950. She is one of those artists that looked better as she got older if there is any footage of her appearances on the Perry Como Show 1959 it's worth a look . She must have been 37/38 but she looks AND sounds fantastic, anyone else agree?

@manwhatupduck I don't know how much singing she does anymore as she is getting up there in age. In the late eighties she toured with Frankie Laine. I traveled to see the show in thre diferent places. I'm one of Frankie's biggest fans as you might tell by the number of Laine clips I have on YT including clips from this show. Plus I love Kay's singing. It was a great show.

Kay had too much Jazz behind her and she was part Native...oops, that is scary!!! She was (is) still one of the best voices in the world and a beauty, inside and out!!! Rock on in Heaven, Kay, 'cause that's where you are! Let's not talk about PL and RC, they were better connected than Kay and that, folks, is that. She had more talent and beauty on those two had and I'll shake a cottonmouth to that!

I don't think I've ever seen such a high concentration of feminine wiles. It's now a lost art in America. I can't get enough of this performance.

yes I know about the Miller recordings even though I have never found one. That was also before she had her voice problems that led to her unique sound. I always wondered what she sounded like before.

Kay Starr was a great singer and she was beautiful. I discovered her through some records my uncle left behind. My first thought was: "She must have been something" I finally came to know about her life, but her recordings are very dificult to find. I keep those old vynil records for safety.

I just love Kay Starr, particulary her great gospel album or actually anything she did for Capitol in 1960s - her hits ruined her reputation perhaps (Hoop Dee Doo?) but I don't care, for me she was and is one of the greatest.
