My favorite Kathy Linden record, who was famous for her '50's hits, "Billy" and the haunting "Goodbye Jimmy Goodbye". This incredible song has it all, catchy lyrics and melody, a dynamite arrangement and a stellar vocal performance by the lovely Kathy. Written by top songwriters, Felice and Boudleaux Bryant, it should have been a big hit, but it went unnoticed and did not chart.

Original Billboard review: "Kathy Linden hands this bright ditty a first-rate performance over good backing by the band and ork. Side has a good sound and the disk has a chance."

Released as a single in March 1961.

The B-side "Take Me Home, Jimmy" charted in one or two local areas.

Music History 101Anyone ever hear of an old folk song called 'Worried Man Blues'? I instantly recognized the basic melody incorporated into 'So In Love With You' by Kathy Linden. It may not have charted with Kathy but it sure charted with the Kingston Trio! Remember, It takes a worried man to sing a worried song? Worried Man Blues was recorded by the Carter Family for the Victor Talking Machine Co. (Yes, now Rca) in 1930! It was also recorded by Johnny Cash, Devo, Woody Guthrie,, Van Morrison, Pete Seeger, Big Joe Williams, Rambling Jack Elliott, Elliott Murphy, and numerous other artists! So Kathy Linden was in brilliant company when she recorded 'So In Love With You' with different words and a different arrangement. This has been done many times before with other songs for instance 'Oh Sole Mio was already a hit. Then it became another hit with Tony Martin's, 'There's No Tomorrow' and then again with Elvis Pressley's, 'It's Now Or never'. Anytime a song goes into the public domain, new words can be written for the music! Free music anyone?

perhaps if this recording had been the followup to goodbye jimmy goodbye when Kathy was still somewhat popular ,, it might have been a ht and extended her career. it would have been a great change of pace and was certainly commercial. another great post.

Boudleaux Bryant wrotte some of the Everly Brothers' hits....The arrangement we hear in this song...are "typical" of that time..For example "Runaway", Brian Hylland...Paul Anka....Neil Sedaka..."Stupid Cupid", that kind of songs...I liked...
