I've always thought this song is about her wishing she was flexible like a rubberband so that when bad things happen, she has the ability to bounce back quickly and not break. "See those trees, bend in the wind, I feel they've got a lot more sense than me". Trees don't try and stop the wind from hitting them, they bend in the wind because the wind's only there temporarily and then it's gone. It's about being adaptable and still managing to survive

Like the main concept of the video with Kate Bush and the guy who handles her like a puppet. Hate the cheesy band that looks like they are in a time warp from a mid 80s music video. And even the ending is typical of some inane cheesy stuff you used to see in some mid 80s videos.
