What i have always admired about Kate Bush is that she never made her music in the conventional sense, she was so ahead of her time, that's why her music has stood the test of time she had her own sound something musicians this day and age don't seem to aspire too these days.

I always believed that the last song on an album is important since it provides an album with a powerful closure. Ending an album with the wrong song or with some low-key ballad sometimes ruins the overall tone of an album. "Get Out of My House" is definitely the right song to end The Dreaming - which in my mind is Kate Bush's best album. Albums are like movies - or at least should be. A bad ending scene that feels out of place or is glued-on to please studio executives (see the original happy ending of Ridley Scott's Blade Runner and the edited happy ending for Terry Gilliam's Brazil for the American release) kills a movie. I feel the same way for music albums. While ending Sensual World with "This Woman's Work" (Walk Straight Down the Middle wasn't on the original album) and The Kick Inside with the with the similarly named song work well with their respective albums, a toned down ending to The Dreaming would have potentially ruined it. Kate knew what she was doing when she picked this one. The Dreaming goes out with a bang.Oh, and an example of how the last song can leave a nasty aftertaste to an otherwise good/decent album. "You're the One" on The Red Shoes nearly made me stay completely clear of the album. My first thought after finishing listening to TRS was: "What?? That's the last song? This is the bookend to the album? I've heard enough." Indeed, a good last song can save an album which otherwise is merely average and this goes for all artists.Did I mention that The Dreaming is awesome? :) Shame it wasn't a bigger hit when originally released, who knows what Kate would have had in mind for "The Dreaming Part 2" (whatever it would have been called).

As Halloween is coming up, I was listening to one of my favorite creepy Kate Bush tunes, "Get Out of My House." I read once where she had drawn from The Shining for it.Kate Bush - Get Out Of My House

I always imagined this song as from the perspective of Wendy Torrance. The book "The Shining" was about alcoholism, but I always saw the movie version as a story about domestic abuse. That's why I never found Wendy annoying. She seemed like a woman at her wits end, just trying to hold her family together. So this song always makes me think of the movie.

I used to love miming to this in the 80s. At the point where she'd mutter "Wont letcha in" I'd raise above my head a cushion which I'd then viciously throw across the room as Kate screamed "Get Out Of My House!" Kate Bush Forever!

Astonishing song. She doesn't do easy listening, does she, but this is very rich and layered. Love it.

Weird song but it is a true work of art! Please take your time to listen to it a few times to get the message... After a bit it'll get stuck in your head ;)In the song the "house" represents a womans brain.

+Godpleton It's actually about her brain. The "house" is what resembles the brain example: "This house is full of madness this house is full of mistakes"
