The best version of 'One Tin Soldier' EVER.From English singer Karen Young who is mostly remembered for her

1969 hit 'Nobody's Child'.

Written by Lambert and Potter the song was recorded in '69 by The Original Caste with other versions coming from

Cher and Coven.Released on Major Minor Records in 1970 with Que Sera Sera on the b side, this remains the definitive version.

You know the original version is the best because it fits the mood of the Billy Jack film but this version is really great on it's own. It's very 60's mod like a version Lulu would do. Great post , thanks !!!

I guess it's just a matter of what you like, everybody has different taste, that's why we have so many styles of music and plenty of it.

This is not the greatest version of this song. It is a good version but it lacks the desperation that the original had. Yeah this is not that good.

@FenceThis I can sympathise,I've googled myself. All these images are from my own collection. This particular Karen Young was English and only released 1 album and about 8 singles between 1965 and the mid Seventies before leaving the business.

unfortunately there are so many Karen Young´s in showbusiness out there that it makes it difficult to even google forth info or pictures on the right one

@Maysey1 Thank you for your words and video Mark. Your version certainly brings out the beauty of the lyrics. I bought Karen's as a 16 year old in 1970 and it had a profound affect on me. The history of the song in North America is very interesting, I wasn't aware there had been so many covers. The song is largely unknown in the UK and it wasn't until other versions began appearing on Youtube that I was aware how diverse the song can be. Ireally enjoyed yours though.

I agree, I like this version better than Coven, it's not as much in your face, which is where a song about PEACE needs to be. I guess that's why people like my humble cover of it and will share here with you if you don't mind. Thanks for sharing this! Mark
