A song written by Kerry Livgren and Steve Walsh

Artist: Kansas

Album: Leftoverture

Year: 1976

Lyrics:

I'm woven in a fantasy

I can't believe the things I see

The path that I have chosen

Has led me to a wall

And with each passing day

I feel a little more

Like something dear was lost

It rises now before me

A dark and silent barrier between

All I am

And all that I would ever want to be

It's just a travesty

Towering

Marking off the boundaries my spirit

Would erase

To pass beyond is what I seek

I fear that I may be too weak

And those are few

Who've seen it through

To glimpse the other side

The promised land is waiting

Like a maiden

That is soon to be a bride

The moment is a masterpiece

The weight of indecision's in the air

It's standing there

The symbol and the sum of all that's me

It's just a travesty

Towering

Blocking out the light and blinding me

I want to see

Gold and diamonds cast a spell

It's not for me, I know it well

The riches that I seek

Are waiting on the other side

There's more that I can measure

In the treasure of the love that I can find

And though it's always been with me

I must tear down the wall and let it be

All I am

And all that I was ever meant to be

In harmony

Shining true and smiling back

At all who wait to cross

There is no loss

I can't add to Tim's comment, 'nuf said! I have been blessed to share it with my son (who grew up listening to "70's" music even though he is only 22). In a word, the song is timeless for those who will truly listen to the words. It either "clicks" or it doesn't! By the way Tim, I don't know you, but your comment reveals much about your heart. You wouldn't by chance be an ENFP (brain type)?

Kerry Livgren was very inspired during this album, he created all these songs almost out of thin air. During an interview he said it just came to him, he had nothing to do with the songs they came from beyond his own mind. Inspiration by definition to be truly new and original it has to come from beyond your own mind. The truth has been revealed, Google *Truth contest* and check out the top entry, the truth is stranger than fiction but it is the truth that will set you free.

He found our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He did glimpse the other side. Listen to His words.

Every Kansas fan should email the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame to get Kansas enshrined! If The Beastie Boys, Ramones, Flavor Flav, Heart, Rush, Steely Dan, & The Red Hot Chili Peppers can get in then so should Kansas. No disrespect to any of the bands I mentioned but come on!!!! Kansas isn't the only one being ignored. You can add Styx, Journey, ELO, Foreigner, Boston and Pat Benatar on that list!

This is my absolute favorite song, hands down! it's been so ever since I heard it, and it probably always will be. This is one of the few songs I've had a strong emotional connection to. The first time I heard it, I had chills all over, and even though it's my favorite song, I rarely listen to it because I don't want it to become monotonous and lose this feeling. Kerry was undergoing a deep spiritual change in his life when he wrote it, and I think he just wrote from his heart. Today, this song has a special secret meaning to me. I hope you enjoy it, and a blessed day to you all!

Kansas was my first ever album. My dad let me pick one record from his 12 for the price of 1 order from Columbia House. I picked Point of Know Return because the album cover looked cool and kind of scary ( I was only 7) That's how my lifetime love of Prog Rock started. Thanks Columbia House!!!
