From the 2000 album SOMEWHERE TO ELSEWHERE. This was the first song that Billy Greer sings Lead Vocals on. Dave Hope plays Bass. I think it has a Beatles/Badfinger vibe at least in the verses! Kind of a Middle Eastern thing in the middle! What do you think?

Billy Greer - Lead Vocals

Dave Hope - Bass

Phil Ehart - Drums

Rich Williams - Guitars

Kerry Livgren - Keys, Guitars

Robbie Steinhardt - Violin, Backing Vocals

Steve Walsh - Backing Vocals, Keys

I love this song, probably my favorite one on this album.

Livgren and Walsh pretty much shared the writing duties equally except for Leftoverture. Walsh freely admits that he had a dry spell (writers block) during that time and that Kerry really stepped up to the plate and delivered. As for the strength of their writing Livgren far outpaced Walsh as a writer/composer. No slam on Walsh, Livgren was just a genius and at the top of the list of composers of our time in Progressive Rock.

I agree, with only one exception among the seven first studio albums that the "classic" lineup released 1974-1980. On six of these albums the song writing credits are equally shared between Livgren and Walsh, more or less. But on Leftoverture(1976) Livgren wrote 5 out 8 tracks alone, two were written by Livgren & Walsh and Magnum Opus were credited to the whole band.On the most comprehensive compilation albums there are far more of Livgren's songs however (counting tracks from 74-80 only).

IDK what all these people who want Robbie back are thinking, because Billy Greer has an excellent set of pipes! And he really does sound like Steve in his younger years. (pre-Power) I sometimes feel like the only Wheathead that would be upset IF Kansas completley reunited for 2012 (Walsh,Ehart,Williams,Livgren,Steinhardt,Hope) Because that means Rags and Billy would get the boot....

Correction Dave, my fellow Kansas fan...Kerry Livgren wrote "Look At The Time"! And all of the songs on the great "Somewhere To Elsewhere." I agree Billy Greer sounds great on it. Would have loved to have heard what Steve W. would have done with it though. But then again, it's not a Walsh-type song. As far as Kerry saying he was just 1/6 of the band, I think his being a Christian has fostered his humility. If you look through Kansas' writing credits, Kerry clearly carried the band as a writer!

What is up with You Tube? My comments above are at least a year old! Still love the song and Billy's vocal!

LOL, I don't know what's up with You Tube's comments. I posted my last comment above last August or so ago, and it still says one month ago! I agree about the Beatles/Badfinger sound going on with this song. Still love this song!

Really Excellent Vocals, Billy. Also reminds me of Kings X (who sometimes reminds one of The Beatles or Badfinger).

I agree that Billy Greer has a great voice! I've seen Kansas live twice with him, and he's great. Wish I could have seen them almost a month ago with Styx. What a show that would have been! Wanted to see Kansas last summer in Reno, but we were a week off.
