Its all about what the media and monitoring stations introduce but I personally feel that US Hip-Hop went dead 2008 which gave that year Lil wayne to conquer because literally no-1 was coming forward with hits thats why Lolipop went big. I think the Grime scene in many UK cities is still real grimey and true same as you find many artists in the US who are still true to hip-hop. What has changed considerably is the audience as well as the artists! #PeopleDontKnowAboutMusic!!!

I blame the genre going mainstream, I'm all for it reaching a wider audience, but it also gets dumbed down alot. Has the UK hip hop/grime scene been whored out as much as the US hip hop scene yet?

Your right there i'm from the UK and but american rap/hip hop and rnb killed it in the 80's 90's and early 2000's. There are some cold rappers out in america but they dont fit anywhere in the commercial scene because no-1 wants to introduce it. It's all system policy to monitor the music scenes. Like Birdman says theres some Killer artists out there but if you aint getting paid you aint getting known! Hence underground, them rappers do it more for the passion than the money e.g. Immortal Tech!
