Roy has one of the best voices ever. This at the end of a long concert and he is still nailing his notes like its the first song! Incredible.

Seriously how can u compare silverthorn with this masterpiece?? I am a huge fan of Kamelot and will be but not only Kamelot the whole music universe is much poorer without Roy, i hope he gets well and reconsider returning back even not in Kamelot which imo he belongs to

I guess we can both agree on that :p

I get your point and I honestly really don't want to argue about it. The important thing is that they still sound like Kamelot in many ways on Silverthorn, although Khan's not longer part of them. The music still "works" like it did before. ;)

Thomas is not the "masterbrain" nor has been. The good Kamelot songs came from collaboration between both Roy and Thomas, the fact that Roy was better at songwriting makes him more entitled to such praise than Thomas to be honest. By now Thomas is the only original member left, still with Silverthorn being co written with Tommy and Oliver it's better to say Kamelot has no one "masterbrain" it works because of the teamwork of the individual bandmembers, unlike Avantasia which is the work of one.

That's right but I never claimed anything else. Thomas is still the masterbrain of Kamelot, he's always been. And it's still not comparable to Tobias Sammet and Avantasia.

You're wrong, they both wrote lyrics. Thomas also stated in an interview that he had learned alot about songwriting from Roy. You can also clearly hear how much the songwriting improved since Khan joined, he played a big part in the songwriting.

I like the way you put that. I also regret that I didn't have the chance to see them with Roy. I wanted to go to a concert, but couldn't for several reasons and a month later I heard Roy left. I kinda sucks that in retrospect that was my one and only chance. But I saw them with Tommy last november and it was awesome, Kamelot remains one of my favorite bands.

Now I dont want to be "This Guy". But I am so glad Khan left when he did.... HE WAS AND ALWASY WILL BE MY FAV. but if u watch the Kracken 2008 performance You can hear him dying on the stage. This band squeezed him dry. My only regret is never got to see him live. But maybe a return performance could be pssible but only if his vocals heal.... Which is a long journey on the brighter side Tommy is doing an amazing job trying as hard as he can to keep up with khan Much love for both of them!!!

The reason that Kamelot is so exceptionel is that everything is so in tune. From the guitar, to the bass, to the drums, to the keyboard. And don't get me started on Khans fabulous vocals. It fits so perfectly together. Masterpiece!

No, it's not. Tobias Sammet writes literally all lyrics and all music of Avantasia. But Thomas Youngblood is the main songwriter and masterbrain behind Kamelot. Khan was its voice and its character, too, but not its brain.
