This is kamelot's song Eternity from album Eternity!

Lyrics:

As I sit upon these rocks above

I feel the waves crash upon the shore

As the sea sprays on my glowing face

I wish I could embrace the sea

for evermore

As I lay my head to sleep at night

I dream the sea and me we flow as one

But I'm a prisoner of the sands and

no one understands these childish dreams

An old man approaches me

His feeble mind confusing to thee

He speaks in riddles and rhymes

Tales of an old witch that cast him

from the sea

But wait my eyes full of splendor

or could this be some crazy old tale

I look to his eyes for the answer

I will my soul to the sea

for Eternity

I will my soul to the sea

for Eternity

And so the journey begins

The pain and suffering

Are your dreams worth this torment?

You can deal Another hand

But the light in the distance

promises this the journeys end

Great gods of olympus

Great god Poseidon

Accept this mortal never let

Him return, For He's willed

His soul to the sea

For Eternity

I will my soul to the sea

for Eternity

I will my soul to the sea

for Eternity

Am I the only one who prefers this album to their other work? It's simply amazing.

The vocalist sounds a bit like a cross of Midnight from Crimson Glory and Jon Arch from Fates Warning.

Mark Vanderbilt is the best singer for this kind of music and for that time. For this album. Thats how i get into Kamelot. Khan is/was great but this is the beginning and should not be underated!

It's also the different styles of power metal that Thomas decided to write. Eternity is total USPM but Dominion onward they gradually shifted towards the European style of power metal until moving in a more progressive direction with Ghost Opera.

holy crap, this guy sounds like Midnight from Crimson Glory...or early Warrel Dane...their best singer ever.

I like pre-Khan Kamelot. But they just don't sound like the Kamelot that I've come to know and love. They sound like a completely different band, not bad just different. Guess that really speaks to how much influence Khan had over the band. As for the singer...he's good! I can't help but compare him to Iron Maiden's Bruce Dickinson...

This album has some damn good playing. The riffs on this album kick so much ass.

I really don't think people have a clue what they're talking about when they talk about "better singers". There's just different styles. If you like Khan's more operatic singing, great. But this guy is also really talented, so don't sell him short.

Pretty solid! I didn't think I would like this as much as I did. They sound a little like Iced Earth

Nahhh, I can stand Nattramn's voice, so even this singer is pretty good for me. I like the song too.

@FlamingGaming1 Oh ya for sure, I love this band now. When my friend sent me a link to this I had the same reaction as when I found out Pantera used to be a glam metal band

@FlamingGaming1 He's playing noticeably off beat :P

Oh dear lord. No wonder they kicked out the original drummer and vocalist. They were absolutely hopeless.

meh, i cant get into this guys voice. the way he emphasizes the end of some of his notes to the point he's almost squeeking, it doesn't really sound right. he holds the notes well. not anywhere near as good as roy khan, but still he's a decent singer at least. as for the music, very good. the guitar melodies haven't progressed much since then, which is somewhat lovable as it goes to show kamelot were great musically since the beginning. not as good as khan's stuff, but still good enough.
