Song #6 from their self titled album Kalapana [1975]

went down town to see my little lady

she stood me up and i stood there waiting

it'll be alright.. when the morning comes

well now i'm up in the air with the rain in my hair

got nowhere to go i can go anywhere

it'll be alright.. when the morning comes

im just passin and i'm not askin that u be anyone but you

when u come home.. try to come home alone

its so much better with two

well now im out in the cold and i'm growin old..

standing here waiting on you

it'll be alright.. when the morning comes

oooo ooooo oooo ooo

when the morning comes

oooo ooooo oooo ooo

when the morning comes

im just passin and i'm not askin that u be anyone but you

when u come home.. try to come home alone

its so much better with two

well now i'm out in the cold and i'm growin old..

standin here waitin on you..

it'll be alright.. when the morning comes

oooo ooooo oooo ooo

when the morning comes

oooo ooooo oooo ooo

it'll be alright.. when the morning comes

oooo ooooo oooo ooo

when the morning comes

oooo ooooo oooo ooo

it'll be alright.. when the morning comes

This version is awful. Hall and Oates original track is 8 million times better. No one outside of Hawaii knows who this is, and no one outside of Hawaii cares about Hawaii

@MaryJ, No one from Hawaii cares about the Hall & Oates original because we grew up with this version. Its inconsequential to us who wrote the lyrics or the melody. Its the delivery by Kalapana, those distinct voices harmonizing, it creates an essence of the islands in our minds & hearts. Not everyone is meant to understand or appreciate this, so don't be sorry. The unique & remarkably talented members of Kalapana, are highly regarded & recognized Islandwide, nationwide & wordwide!! #RIPmackey

Interesting .... My first time hearing this version. I like the energy they added, faster tempo, a few extra bells & whistles. It's an interesting arrangment EXCEPT they messed with the chords too much -- trying to fix what wasn't broken. The chords, which are the glue of the song, don't fit together as well as in the original by H&O. But it must've been fun to dance to.

Yea and that's just YOUR opinion. I'm one of those that developed a taste for it because I grew up listening to it. I didn't even know Hall & Oats had a version til now. Their version sounded flat, lifeless, colorless and bland. Kalapana's version is exciting and full of energy.

Kalapana doeas a good job, if I were in Hawaii I would prefer this version on the beach. H&O's any other place all day long.

The Hall and Oates original has it's own truly awesome mystique - mysterious sounding. Kalapana did this song with such a fabulous verve to it; festive, groovy, party-feel. Very "island" in it's sound. Both original and rendition are equally fabulous.

The original version uses a lot of synth which is very characteristic of the H&O style. That's probably why it doesn't appeal as well to most people as this one does.
