Who cares if it Ferlin or Joe Blow it is a beautiful song no matter who it is

I played bass for Ferlin for a while & he could "drag Bottom" when he wanted to. There is no doubt this is him singing. People can imitate his Simon Crumb character but not his "Ferlin" voice.

This is a good version of this song. God loves us and Jesus died to save us from sin. Please accept Jesus as your Savior and live for and love God. God bless.

I'm thinking it may depend on the era and age at the time of this particular recording. I'm certainly not an voice analyzer but you can hear some Ferlin here (but at what age?) The ferlin husky website has two versions of this song and many others if not all.

Ferlin was a good singer but this is not him.Too much bass. This version is J D Sumner and the Stamps Quartet. This was recorded after Elvis died and J D put out some alburms. He was older and his voice wasn't as strong so he had trouble trying to sing the higher range of this song.

Ferlin Husky -- good call, he's the guy. Glad someone recognized him.

Thanks for your comment. I think we've got the right man this time. I just listened to Ferlin Husky singing Lonely Christmas (1967)and it sounded just like this guy. Also the backing group seams to match, so it's probably from the same era. I never heard of Ferlin Husky before today. Thanks again.

Thanks. I just had a listen to Red Foley "Peace in the Valley" and I'm inclined to agree with you. I'll head it up as Red Foley, and see if anyone disagrees.

Definitely not Cash. Sings a bit like Red Foley, but in a lower register -- compare to studio version of Peace in the Valley. Sounds like a live airtake, which could explain style and voice differences -- but no trademark "oh yeah". He sure sounds familiar.
