I do not own the rights to this song. It belongs to the Decemberists and their record label.

This is the track "June Hymn" off of the Decemberists' new album "The King is Dead". Check out Calamity Song by the Decemberists off of the same album at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ScE_d6uTAHU

Lyrics:

Hear the hymn to welcome in the day

Heralding a summer's early sway

And all the bulbs all coming in, to begin

Thrushs' bleeding battle with the wrens

Disrupts my reverie again

Pegging clothing on the line

Training jasmine how to vine

Up the arbor to your door, and more

Standing on the landing with the war

You shouldered all the night before

And once upon it

The yellow bonnets

Garland all the line

And you were waking

And day was breaking

A panoply of song

And summer comes to Springville Hills

A barany of ivy in the trees

Expanding out it's empire by degrees

And all the branches burst a' bloom

Into bloom

Heaven sent this cardinal, maroon

To decorate our living room

And once upon it

The yellow bonnets

Garland all the line

And you were waking

And day was breaking

A panoply of song

And summer comes to Springville Hills

And years from now

When this old light isn't ambling anymore

Will I bring myself to ride (?)

I give my best to Springville Hills

And once upon it

The yellow bonnets

Garland all the line

And you were waking

And day was breaking

A panoply of song

And summer comes to Springville Hills

And summer comes to Springville Hills

A beautiful song. Love it from beginning to end. Very good live to. Went to one of their concerts it was amazing.

my mom, her best friend, and my aunt would always play this on the guitar and sing along at my cousin's country house during the summer when I was little. It always brings up nostalgia and happy memories of those times. <3

+Sunnit Nayak Do you feel better now that you've come out? Pillow biter. On a serious note. I remember them closing with this at the Schnitzer show. Perfect song to end the set.

Not sure what part was dissonant. It all harmonized right on, perhaps at best you can say there was a appoggiatura that resolved the chord. Check out Stravinksy's The Rite of Spring to get a taste of dissonance. But yes, holy mother of hell, they're brilliant
