@weasel4915 Yup it suits it very well. Actually there is no song on Skyscraper I like as much as this one. =D It would be nice to have a studio version of this one though.

@dikkop0 It's a very basic chord progression, but the lyrics are very touching.. :) I think the simple chords suite it, the way he sings it. I think that's also why the song didn't make the cut.. but I have a feeling he's glad there's people downloading it and feeling comfort through it. I sure do.

Now if HMG5588 would stop trolling for a second I got somethin'. Song lyrics in general aren't necessarily bad. It's more a matter of what one pulls from them. Obviously the rest of us are pulling more from it than he is. Doesn't mean they're bad. I'm sure there are plenty of people who pull more from Ke$ha lyrics than we do. But I will say that HMG5588 has good taste in music. Joy Division what up.

What exactly is your point??? These lyrics suck. I wrote better lyrics when I was 7. And I'm not even an "artist". And given what passes for artistry today, I wouldn't want to be. The fact that people think this song is "provacative", comparing yourself to a sandwich wrapped in cellophane that can't stay fresh, is so ridiculous I have to laugh. You're defending these lyrics??? You need to throw away your CD / MP3 song collection and start over. Tell me what this song saying to you???

In the 2nd grade, we were given homework every other Friday to write short 4 to 8 line poems to learn how to connect our subconscious to language. Most of my poems were horrible. A few were ok. And a handful were kinda good according to my teacher. But when I was 14 in 1980, my friend's older brother played an LP called "Unknown Pleasures" by Joy Division. The songs and lyrics are mind bending, brutal, and beautiful. I wish I could write like that. Few can. Paul Banks can't.

Hey that's ok. If anything, it proves that there will always be someone gifted with enough insight to find that connection with an emotion expressed in a song. And that is a great blessing from above. Every time I listen to Sonic Youth's "Antenna", I think of seeing that beautiful Iranian woman dieing in front of my eyes from a gun shot wound straight through her heart. The song has nothing to do with that horrible event. But that 's what I instantly feel the song is about... for me.

Please don't take my critical view of this song's lyrics as a judgement of a lack of talent. It's just that some times it helps to have some one proof read your lyrics before publishing. Now that's hard to do when the whole point of a poem or lyric is to express an internal stream of consciousness into a group of sentences that help the listener understand an emotion if not the entire spirit of the experience. To that, I think Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth is a master of the lyric and song.

Well that's the problem. When I was writing lyrics like this at 7, I couldn't get a record deal. Now-a-days I guess any one coming out with lyrics like this here can get a record deal. Admit it! This song's lyrics suck ass. Paul's got to know when he fucks up. Don't kiss his ass. Tell him that this reeks of cat crap on a hot tin roof and to do better next time. That's how a true artist grows to be better. Tuff-Love!

I'm 40 and have no desire to pick fights with a 14 year old. But I am glad that you are reading MacBeth! I can remember a band called Joy Division when I was 14. I bought their album (LP - Unknown Pleasures) and remember being blown away by the lyrics and sound of the music. That was an incredible experience. I had a similar experience hearing Interpol's PDA. Paul is a great singer, but most of his lyrics need a rewrite. Song 7 I think is his best.
