Bream is bringing a positive barrage of guitaristic resources to this interpretation - pizz, harmonics, dynamics, rhetoric, metallic and mellow. I am not sure how much of a life this piece had with guitarists beforehand but I suspect that he really championed this piece over other guitarists. Certainly he does a great job of animating the music.Interestingly, the original was a song with a lengthy introduction on the piano so the migration to the guitar is a very significant change to the nature of the piece. It does not seem to suffer as a consequence in fact, in common with that school of Spanish piano composition, it enjoys a healthier life on guitar than it's original instrument. Thinking too of Albeniz. This is one of my favourite pieces to play and I particularly enjoy the frequent changes of direction in the music and the scope that it gives to express. Downside is that it requires the 5th and 6th strings to be brought down a tone to play in G so can be mixed with the Habanera of Sainz de la Maza and Seville by Albeniz.

His tone, his clarity, his timbre with all the possible colours our instrument can offer... Makes me want to quit the guitar forever, and makes me want to try my hardest and be the best I can be at the same time. Thank you Maestro...
