Two wonderful vocalists who simply interpreted a "wrong song." I put those words in parenthesis because even the song Michael McDonbald "wrote" is a hybrid of the original "I Keep Forgettin'" written by legendary songwriters Leiber-Stoller. So much so, that McDonald had to share the writing credit with that songwriting team. Chuck Jackson had authority in his original 1962 version, many other artists covered it well, including Gary Brooker & Procol Harum (because Leiber & Stoller produced their Ninth album). This song was written as a rocker, and the lyrics are aggressive. Any attempt to soften it up, run it through a jazz filter, make it moody middle of the road, just sucks all the life out of it. Julia and Mike are good vocalists and sing well together, but this is a misfire. It would be like doing a slow version of "Jailhouse Rock." For those who do like it -- that's fine. But certain attempts at re-inventing a particular song are not always good ideas. So instead of saying it was a bad song, I'll just suggest it was an ill-conceived idea. These two singers can do better together. And Julia Fordham is usually always excellent.

Interesting how their voices work together. A bit quivery without much vibrato. Great post!

I like the way she has made it her song .. by adding the twist and ad libs. It is wrong to expect every artist to sing a song the same way.

@ah440z This is so wrong on so many levels!! I don't mind a ad lib or a remake if it's done right but this has been so twisted chopped & screwed that I can't & won't listen to ore than 43 seconds of this

Julie adds a different twist to the the song whitch works. She gives it a smokey and sultry sound to it. Another words a different dimension. I like what she did to it. I love Micheal's version and been a follower of his for over 20 years but thsi version is good.
