Awesome singer! I saw her on Hootenanny Hoot as well! A cross of many singers, Janis Joplin, Grace Slick and add some Peggy Lee!

Check her out with Dave Guard & the Whiskeyhill Singers on the soundtrack of 1962's "How The West Was Won." Guard formed that folk group after leaving the Kingston Trio and it only lasted about six months. Some say she was too overpowering a presence and I can believe it. This woman should have been a huge star, with her huge voice, good looks, gift of humor, and great stage presence.

I have viewed her "Wade in the Water" and I must say it is the best version of that song I have ever heard. Her rendition of that great spiritual is nothing short then brilliant. She out doe's herself on that great song. I must of viewed that video over a hundred times and I never get tired of watching it. It's the best version bar none!

I agree absolutely. She is a stunner. However, she voluntarily quit the stage to raise kid(s) for a long time. Maybe she couldn't stand the bullshit of the music biz, being a lady of such obvious integrity. Check out her fabulous version of Wade in the Water on youtube - a role model for Grace Slick, perhaps?

Why this woman never became a diva in her day, this I don't understand. She had one of the greatest voices I have ever heard. And here she is singing one of the classics, and it's nothing short than brilliant!

Always thought this was better than Billie Holiday's, except for that annoying horn.

Would have died for this woman. She was also one of the funniest people you ever heard. Bless you Judy, wherever you are.
