Welcome back...you know that I can never play enough of JUDY! This is from "Too Many Girl"...not the stage production but the movie...with Desi! Here Judy sings a poignant version of Rodgers and Hart's masterpiece that really is a seldom known.song..it's what is known as a list song in Broadway and song writing nomenclature...and in this case, it is used to great effect! It's clear that Judy loved this song, and loved the message of this song because the lyric is so telling. What does Love mean to you in your heart of hearts? Then Hart painstakingly goes through a beautiful list of images to tell you exactly what he thinks love is! I'm so glad that you spent this time with DAVY and it was a pleasure playing for you just a sample of what Dick Rodgers and Larry Hart Left to the world! This is a beautiful song by Rogers and Hart. The lyrics from Hart are just so wonderful. Judy probably sings this song a little better on her 1961 Carnegie Hall recording. She is a wonderful performer and some say the most talented performer of the 20th century with accolades from Bing Crosby and Mickey Rooney. She had problems but she seems to have had a wonderful relationship with her 3 children who travelled with her rather than go to boarding school (see the Utube Barbara Walters interview in the late 60s).10 years ago
