I just bought the very rare video (DVD) of The hostage live by Judy Collins (BBC 1973 with 6 songs). Easier to get the CD ... Great song, great interpretation.

@dlhippie58 I found it. It is, in fact, called "Attica State," and was written by John Lennon. It's here on YouTube. Lennon did a straight rock and roll version of the song, while Judy sang it straight "folk," if you will. Judy's version is much more dramatic and forceful.

@dlhippie58 I just checked it out, and while that song is very good, it's not the one I'm looking for. I heard the one I'm looking for, on the radio, around 1975. I think it must have been a single which was never put on an album. The word "Attica" is repeated several times in the song. It is much more dynamic, dramatic, chilling, and forceful than "The Hostage." Could Tom Paxton have written another song about Attica? Thanks for telling me about "The Hostage."

I love this song, I love Judy's voice, I even saw Dylan sing this in person, but my personal favorite is by Rick Nelson. It's here, on YouTube, please check it out. HELP! I just spent 3 hours looking for a song by Judy, that I heard only ONE time, almost 40 yrs. ago, but it blew me away. It was about the prison riot at Attica State Prison, in New York. The title MAY be "Attica State," but I'm not sure. Please let me know if that song is available. The song will make you want start a revolution.
