6th track from the Judas Priest album, Sin After Sin (1977).

Lyrics:

I made a spike about nine o'clock on a Saturday

All eyes hit me as I walked into the door

Then ??? and then the guys were fooling in the demin dudes

A couple cards played rough stuff, New York, fire island

I cased the joint, straining at the scenes

I moseyed up to the counter and the tender came a-grinnin'

I snapped the smile off his face and scowled "Give me a bourbon"

The mirror on the wall was collecting and reflecting

All the heavy bodies ducking, stealing eager for some action

The scene screwed me up, I saw some contact

Then the big boys, saw me and knew that

I'd had too much, floating around

Statues alive, seconds are hours

Sacks like a hurricane, wrapped in and shattered

I was barely holding on to this flying body symphony

I guess I dream in pictures, not colors

The true free expression I demand is human rights - right

I gave my life, I am immortal

I'm going, no loss

I'm going, no loss

I'm going, no loss

I'm going, no loss

Nightmare, just a bunch of goddamn, rotten, steaming, raw

Deal

I pity the poor people who think Rob only came out in 1998.

This is the song when I knew he was a friend of Dorothy.

That feel when a homosexual writes better lyrics and sings better songs about lust, intimacy, and passion than 90% of straight folks.

The title of the song is "Raw Deal", and the term "raw" meaning bareback or unprotected sex, was quite common during the 1970's gay underground scene. "Raw Deal" may also be a reference to the raw deal that gay people were receiving from society during that time period. Combined with the homoerotic lyrics, this is perhaps Judas Priest's queerest song, and it was done fairly early in their career. The other band members like Tipton and Downing denied the band had any gay overtones, but this song, along with the "leather n' studs" aesthetic of the band paints a different picture to the casual observer. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Grew up on this, it never gets old, and no matter what, I never get a raw deal when listening to priest...Give me a Bourbon!

The missing lyrics can be heard if you listen closely and follow the story, incidently a modified version of the lyrics are on priests website, though they aren't the original ones as heard here on this original song. Obviously it's a song about the gay scene/nightlife at a bar called The Spike in New York's Fire Island. That is undisputed. The odd thing is I knew that 25 yrs ago but I still enjoyed the song and the whole album,
