[Tipton/Halford/Downing]

Pounding the world like a battering ram

Forging the furnace for the final grand slam

Chopping away at the source soon the course will be done

Leaving a trail of destruction that's second to none

Hammering anvils straining muscle and might

Shattering blows crashing browbeating fright

Fast devastating and desolisating the curse

Blasting the cannons of truth through each man of this earth

Wielding the axe comes the one culmination

That's always seemed certain to bring down the curtain on greed

Sifting the good from the bad it's the age for the rage

Of the dogs which must fall to the just and be free

Now grate for the vandals who trampled and sampled

Till this place conditioned brought forth demolition to war

The slipping and sliding corrosive subsiding

That withered and wained till the world seemed all drained fills the bay

Pounding the world like a battering ram

Forging the furnace for the final grand slam

Chopping away at the source soon the course will be done

Leaving a trail of destruction that's second to none

Second to none.

I think this is one of the best versions of Rapid Fire by Priest.. Even though it doesn't have the metal god Rob Halford.

Halford is great but Tim's version here beats any live version I've heard with Halford. Not to knock Halford but sure, while he's older now, this song was recorded in '80 when he was 28. Roughly the same age as Tim here. After 33 years though, no live rendition with Rob matches the intensity of this one.

Probably the best replacement vocalist, PERIOD. And in my eyes he wasn't even a replacement..He held his own.

WWWIIIEEELDING THE AXE COMES THE ONE CULMINATION THAT ALWAYS SEEMED CERTAIN TO BRING DOWN THE CURTAIN ON GREED Man....... Ripper killed this! He was probably the best replacement vocalist we could've got for Priest.. that was known at the time. He's so vicious.

@apedemartini The fact that he's 60 years old and has been singing his throat out for more than 45 years is certainly a factor too, Ripper is still young.

He's a good singer without doubt, but Priest is Halford. Moreover, you just don't change a single fucking thing in songs like these.

It would be amazing to hear Halford and Ripper do a duet on this song or even Metal Meltdown!
