This 45 has been quite a mystery for me. To me, this is a beautiful little instrumental from 1962 that was tucked on the B side of this disc by an unknown artist or group (most other 45's on this label appear to be credited to the Orchestra Del Oro). The label was owned by Dave Miller (who also owned Essex, Somerset, Audio Spectrum and others... remember the 101 Strings? They had tons of recordings on Somerset). The song was a fairly low budget recording (though the label claimed to record on 35mm film!), but was reissued later on as "Theme From The Unknown" (very fitting title) by the 101 Strings (also fitting as I just mentioned them above). The guy who owned the label put out recordings as cheaply as possible, as did future companies who purchased the master tapes and reissued the recordings. These days this recording (under whatever title or artist coupling) is owned by Madacy Lifestyle Marketing (formerly Madacy Entertainment) and is distributed by the Clark Investment Group. This song was written by Guy Costa, the nephew of famed arranger Don Costa. This is a great little record and I hope you enjoy it! You can hear nice tunes like this one live every night at www.topshelfoldies.org!
