I applaud Deen, he did a great job. He knows he can't fill Steve's shoes, but the show has got to go on.

I am not going to get into a debate over who the best singer is. I know which side I fall on, but what I was wondering is was there something wrong with them that night. I know that in 1983 and 1981 Neal and Jon were so into this song and Ross was right in there with them. They really seem to be enjoying themselves, but here its like they are just going through the motions hoping that it would end soon. I mean there just doesn't seem to be any energy. Were they sick or something?I am really not trying to start any trouble here. I have just never seen them be so flat before.

I am a big fan of Steve Perry, but Deen Castronovo keeps impressing me by how well he can do some of the harder Journey songs. He does a great job here, and I do think his vocals are superior to Arnel Pineda's. However, I will always prefer Steve Perry.

Deen schools Arnel on being a lead singer for Journey every time he takes over lead vocals. Arnel simply does not have the sense of melody,dynamic range, range of scale phrasing and ability to finesse high notes that Deen has, and these things are vital for anyone who is attempting a classic Journey song.
