Lyrics

Do Not Let Me Go

There are moments in this life when you can't fake it.

There are moments I would walk another road.

There was something in the broken way you said it

Singing, "Please, oh God, do not let me go."

From the moment I was born I have been dying.

Yeah, we walk along towards the great unknown.

Is it love if I have given up on trying?

Singing, "Oh my God, don't leave me alone."

Singing, "Please, oh God, do not let me go."

Oh, Oh, Oh

If you're up there could you lift my heavy burden?

'Cause I cannot seem to make this on my own.

Though I'm not sure you can hear me I'm still begging.

Singing, "Oh my god, don't leave me alone."

Singing, "Please, oh God, do not let me go."

Joshua is a modern folk musician, an amalgam of influence in the classically romantic tradition of Damien Rice, Ryan Adams, Iron and Wine, and Sufjan Stevens. Like the said ballyhooed folksters before him, Joshua is inspired to write largely as a result of the people and relationships surrounding him, while also subjecting his songs to his own vulnerabilities, doubts, and conflicts.

Had to share with my spiritual & music friends on Facebook and G+. Heard this on an episode of Stuart McLean's "Vinyl Cafe" on CBC Radio. Now listening to how you were inspired to write it really touches me deeply. Thank you so much, Joshua. Blessings to you!

I'm not too sure, but when I saw him in concert he said he was travelling in the desert and became very dehydrated and passed out. But he was saved by a man who brought him back to a hotel.

I listened to this song for two and a half hours on repeat and bawled my eyes out, and I literally feel so much better now.

.... but halfway around the world in a desolate part of Northern India .... But the journey took an inauspicious turn early on: abandoned for three days in a desert bordering Pakistan with no food or water followed by a rather complicated twist of fate, Hyslop would endure two near-death experiences that not only tested him physically, but emotionally and spiritually, as well. His voice reminds me of Damien Rice... but with less despair.

I'm a big fan of this song, but the story doesn't make any sense... Why was he being led out to the desert to die? And all of a sudden it's a week later and he didn't die in the desert? Fuckin' bananas, man.
