Pyke signed to Australian indie label Ivy League Records in 2005 and his first release on the label was a mini-album entitled Feeding the Wolves. It features the single "Middle of the Hill", as well as second single "Private Education". Josh toured early in 2005 with Jebediah frontman, Bob Evans, aka Kevin Mitchell. Feeding the Wolves was nominated for 'Best Pop Release at the 2006 ARIA Awards[4]. Pyke released his debut album, Memories & Dust, on March 10, 2007 and it debuted at #4 on the Australian ARIA Album Chart. He also guest programmed 'rage' on this date. The lead single from the new album, entitled "Lines on Palms", hit Australian airwaves in mid-January. When fans pre-ordered Memories & Dust through the fanclub website, they received a bonus CD of the live private show Josh did at The Wesley Anne in Northcote, Victoria in 2006. Josh Pyke performed at the 'Escape to the Park' concert in King's Park, Perth, Western Australia alongside The Panda Band, Tex Perkins, Sarah Blasko and Augie March. He also performed at the 2006-2007 Falls Festival in Lorne, Victoria and Marion Bay, Tasmania on New Year's Eve. He also sung a cover version of Wuthering Heights by Kate Bush for No Man's Woman which was released in 2007. In April 2007 his debut album, Memories & Dust, was nominated for a J Award by Triple J. Pyke also picked up an ARIA for best adult contemporary album at the 2007 ARIA awards. Pyke is currently recording his second album Chimney's Afire (due out October 4th) at Sydney's Linear Recording studios. He recently announced a small tour to showcase songs off this album.

#Joshpyke In my mind, not enough birds have diedin the shadow of this once cast stoneand i'm not well, but i am ill at easewith all the buttons still left to sewthrough needles eyes, see me sharper than i see myself..so you should stitch me in to stop me from bleedingand education can be fickle i think, sometimes the more you learn, the more you lose a sense of what you think you knowabout all the buttons still left to sewand i'm outside myself more and more these daysso you should stitch my skin skin to stop me from bleeding all over this fresh sing and i...aknowledge all the corners, and all the freshly painted walls, that bear no former scarssince they're patched up and over nowbut i was born of miners and im designed to chip away, tunnel in the dark..but why must it always come down to some unseen contender?i don't knowwhen hatchlings all we are, just battling the whitewashbirds above, sharks below..though i feel empathy towards the ones who threaten mei'd still leave them soft-shelled to the beaks of crows...but every now and then a tempest blows, and the veneer I keep comes unsewn, but will you ever read me well? I can only assume so.and i'm bouyant like a flotsam man, now relegated by the waves to land.they dry me like a brittle bone, paraded like a polished stone.and that's what you ought to know.i'd see them smashed on the reefs below.10 years ago
