In his mouth the words can be interpreted as a meditation on old age and the coming of death. Not many first songs by new artists have the ability to gain added meaning over the course of a long lifetime.

there might be someone that we don't know recording things at this level right now. But the same as Mitchell at her time, he/she can be almost totally unknown. The pass of time make good things to the recognition of these artists, just the same with Leonard Cohen. They acquire the status of legends
