The version of this song (to the right) sung recently by white-haired old Tom Rush seems to have a depth of meaning to it missing from these 1960s versions. In his mouth the words can be interpreted as a meditation on old age and the coming of death. Not many first songs by new artists have the ability to gain added meaning over the course of a long lifetime.

there might be someone that we don't know recording things at this level right now. But the same as Mitchell at her time, he/she can be almost totally unknown. The pass of time make good things to the recognition of these artists, just the same with Leonard Cohen. They acquire the status of legends

very rarely do i fall in love with a song on first hearing but this went right to my soul when i first heard it just two nights ago on the "something Understood" programme from BBC Radio 4 very late on sunday night.what a little gem!.
