Jonathan Richman - Roadrunner (TOTP 1977)

Lacking either a live Jonathan or a suitable video clip, the BBC set this classic single to a dance routine from the ever-cheesy, Legs and Co.

This was a pop chart version of a very much better track from 1972!!

at 0:12 we naturally presume that the woman dancer "travelling in the car" is on the phone. However, this is 1977 and that is a tranny. A radio.

JONATHAN WOULD HAVE FIT RIGHT IN THIS HILARIOUS CHOREOGRAPHY!

This choreography makes more sense with this song than it probably did with whatever the original song was.

Okay, that was odd. Replace the transistor radios with mobiles and we'd almost have a modern world.

Disbanded is the answer. This clip is from 1977. Pan's People last appeared on TOTP during the spring of 1976. Legs and Co. were the dancers in 1977.
