JHJ were truly one of the better bands of the 80's.I've gotten to know both Clark and Calvin and understand their dedication to their Music. As a musician myself I can honestly say that even though I was in a couple of bands and two well known, I always enjoyed listening to JHJ.YES, the 80's really did have the best Music, it was real music.

This song is a tragedy. War is a useless tragedy. I hear the lyrics to this and they are so on the mark about war that nobody did it better. At the time I hated Johnny Hates Jazz I was 11 years old or 12 years old and I was getting the shit beaten out of me in school and all I did was cry all the time and feel horrible. It went from beautiful to disgusting my childhood. What then was called "Heavy Metal" saved me, but it was melodic stuff. Whether you love this or Diamond Head or Iron Maiden or whatever good music you love admit it that without African American traditions such as soul, blues, and early rock and roll rock would not exist. I'm white, but the worst evil along with war is racism. We are all the same- human and not perfect, but our worst imperfection and most evil is the hunger for violence when pushed way too far.
