Johnny Hallyday is a French icon and superstar. With a career going back into the fifties he remains the best selling artist of all time in the French speaking world as well as enjoying a successful acting career. Inspired by Elvis Presley and the pioneers of American rock 'n' roll he managed to take their energy and sense of rebellion and create something distinctively French. He was an immediate success and has remained so to this day. This concert from Montreux in 1988 captures his electric live show in a far more intimate venue than the vast arenas he usually performs in.
Johnny's career shows no sign of flagging and, if anything, his star is still in the ascendancy in his native France - his latest album "Le Coeur d'un Homme" was released in November and has already sold over 500,000 copies in France and his huge French tour in 2009 is already sold out! "Live At Montreux 1988" underlines the talent and energy that have made him a household name.
