Beautiful version of the song. I really like Johnny. Although I wouldn't say it's the definitive version. Stephin Merritt's original with his deep, slightly gruff voice fits the situation and subject matter a bit better, I feel. And like everything on "69 Love Songs", this song is a parody of a certain kind of love song just as much as it is an actual love song. I always feel that this gets lost even with very good covers like this one.9 years ago
