I have decided to upload this song after I saw the Disney short cartoon. Note that the original 78 rpm shellac disc (recorded in 1946) was labelled "Johnny Fedora" only. I write the lyrics below:

Johnny Fedora met Alice Bluebonnet in the window of a department store.

'Twas love at first sight, and they promised one night, they'd be sweethearts forever more.

Johnny would serenade Alice, too-ra-lay, too-ra-lie, too-ra-loo.

He sang of a beautiful palace, of a beautiful hatbox for two.

But Johnny Fedora lost Alice Bluebonnet to a patron of the department store.

Her beauty was sought by the girl she was bought by for $23.94.

Johnny, oh Johnny, your Alice Bluebonnet will always be waiting for you.

So don't give up hoping and don't give up dreaming, for true love will come smiling through.

Johnny Fedora was lonely and stranded in the window of the department store,

When low and behold, he was suddenly sold, and his heart became gay once more.

Johnny sang out like a robin, too-ra-lay, too-ra-lie, too-ra-loo,

To strangers he'd come up a-bobbin', I thought you were someone I knew.

He looked for her uptown and crosstown and downtown, from the Brooklyn Bridge to the Jersey shore.

When it all seemed in vain, Johnny heard the refrain, of the song Alice sang of yore.

Johnny, oh Johnny, your Alice Bluebonnet will always be waiting for you.

So don't give up hoping, and don't give up dreaming, for true love will come smiling through.

That is true "A Love Story" is what was in store for us, but the short is actually titled "Johnnie Fedora and Alice Bluebonnett". What's funny is that it is spelled Johnny here. Just a discrepancy I guess. At any rate, I love this short and I never knew there was a "single" of the song, so thanks!

The cartoon that this song accompanied tore my four year old heart out when I saw it back in the stone age.

@joseph60us Since "Money Is The Root Of All Evil" is already on YouTube, there is no point to upload it twice. Anyway, I believe you had a rich collection of 78 rpm before. Thank you again for visiting my channel.

This recording was part of the soundtrack of the movie "Slaughterhouse Five" based on the book of the same title by Kurt Vonnegut. It's a 1970's era movie that tells the tale of Billy Pilgrim, a hapless soul who becomes unstuck in time and travels back and forth from the horrors of World War II to a cage on the alien planet Tralfamadore. If you like this song, you really owe it to yourself to check out the film. It should be available on DVD, though who knows? Thanks for posting this song!
