Running Time: Part One - 5:30 minutes

John Carter Cash, the only child of Johnny and June Carter Cash, speaks candidly about his legendary fathers writing and recording of the music that would become his final album, American VI: Aint No Grave. During these final recording sessions in May of 2003--less than four months before he passed--Johnny lost his wife June to surgical complications. According to producer Rick Rubin, "Johnny said that recording was his main reason for being alive. I think it was the only thing that kept him going.

This part-one-of-two short documentaries features music and interview footage of John Carter Cash talking about the recording of the songs that made up Johnnys final album. Also included are iconic film and images of Johnny around his writing cabin in Tennessee throughout his American Recordings career.

The Man in Black may no longer walk this Earthly realm, but through his music, Johnny Cash is very much alive and well and living among us.

I don't know if I can even trust anything from a Triangle and an eye. It's like it directs me to a lie. If Mr. Cash was alive and well here now in body with soul, he would walk right over and punch that eye out of the triangle. Would have to rename the youtube account Punched Out Eye Media.

We all agree that Johnny Cash is a legend. What a legacy. Thank you for this video! This is when music was still respectful. And Johnny was a respectable man to the end. We all make mistakes, but if we repent, God is faithful to forgive us our sins.Thank you Johnny Cash for a lifetime of good music. May the good Lord be with ya...

"Ain't No Grave" was originally written and recorded by an old-time Pentecostal preacher named Claude Ely. It was written as triumph over death. Elvis's mother took him to see Claude Ely preach at tent meetings. Bro. Claude died of a heart attack in a church service while playing the organ. His nephew still travels the country, preaching and singing.

I have worked in country music radio for years and if I had to have a favorite artist it whould be Johnny and june . I hope some of the young musician in all music forms take notice and see how its done from Johnny. Be your own man or women take changes and new things you never know til you try as Johnny found out all to well. Its ok to do cover tunes but do your own thing too thats what set aside true artist compared to someone just playing/singing a song .Please tell me what you think . God Bless
