You may also want to hear Johnny singing "Six White Horses" to revise that claim.

Johnny Cash was universal. The older he become, the more liberal he became. He opposed all war and violence, he loved Jimmy Carter and was friends with Al Gore. He loved Dixie and the south, but he always claimed to equally love New York, California and Jamaica. He played for the prisoners, but he did many police benefits, too. He was an ordained Baptist minister, but he felt Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, and Hindus were just as right as he was with their own philosphies.

Mostly Brenda

The backing here is by Bill Walker and the Orchestra. The videos from this show receive occasional comments that basically say that the arrangements are too pop and not enough country. It's a legitimate criticism in my view, but I don't think it was forced on J. Cash. Johnny employed Bill Walker & crew for his weekly show (1969-1971) and for many specials and Christmas shows after that. It appears to be his choice.

I cant believe Johnny put up with that Lawrence Welk Muzak they trashed his music in the background. I think they were constantly trying to soften his edge.
