What Jesse did was a sort of pay back. Just think of all wrong the Union army etc did to the South. If anything Jesse James was a freedom fighter who didnt surrender in 1865.

Jesse and Frank James use to stay in a little log house on my great grandfathers farm in East Tn. They ate breakfast lunch and supper with the Shaw family which was all in the Confederate army also which was part of my family

Jesse James married his cousin Zee Cole - they were cousins thru his mothers side of the family. They had two childern that lived to adulthood. Jesse Jr. and Mary were the childerns names both very young when thier father was murdered. Not sure what happened to Mary but Jesse Jr married had had childern, not sure if there are DIRECT descendants today - could be, but there are distant realitives to be sure. 132 years is not that long in the sceem of things

I recorded the movie on Encore Westerns. It was very good even if it played with history. At 1:37, the "Goodbye, Bob" was the last line of the movie, It played around with historical license to put Frank at the scene of Bob Ford's murder in 1892 and have Ford's eventual murderer beat him to the punch (I don't know if Frank ever did try to settle the score with Ford in the 10 years after Jesse's killing.)

Successful brainwashing by the same sorts of tyrannizers Jesse James fought against. Those who have studied the real history know he WAS a freedom fighter for the common folk against a rapacious Yankee empire. You wouldn't know that 1/3 of the slave states were Union, 1 in 10 Confederate soldiers at most ever owned a slave. White racism pervaded the entire western world in that era. The people who knew Jesse James and those who came after them know the truth, unlike you, the true myth-swallower.

But did he shoot Jesse? There is evidence that Jesse, when he found out how far his legend reached decided to stage his death and escape. There is now much evidence proving it to be true. Especially when relatives talk about the 1920's about an old man they called John who looked like Jesse.

Jesse James was a cold blooded racist killer and the legend that sprung up around him was created by a newspaper editor in Missouri who was a Confederate pro-slavery sympathizer. Jesse James learned how to kill during the Civil War when he belonged to a Confederate militia. He discovered that he liked killing and so took up a life of robbing banks with his brother Frank and their gang. He was no Robin Hood at all - that was all a myth created by the newspapers in Missouri which was a slave state

One of my favorite songs. Jesse James was right. If Pinkerton did to my family what they did to the James' family, then I would have done the same thing as Jesse. George Vreeland Hill
