OK this might be the one and only clip of guitar master Gatton playing a well worn cover of Johnny B. Goode. Although it has been played to death, even us long time pros can learn a lot by watching the master do it!

Both Chuck and that upstart Keith Richards would have had to pick their jaws up off the carpet seeing Danny play!

Too bad the cam operator doesn't use even an establish shot w/ the whole band in frame, and can;t even show the sax player when he's soloing.

Was completely blown away first time heard Johnny B Goode---it was 1957 and NONE was playing guitar like Chuck Berry. Well I was in my wildest dreams! A ground breaking song that's also one of your biggest influences NEVER gets tired or seems that way. Had it not been for Chuck Berry Danny Gatton might never have been inspired to develop his own style------thank god he did! RIP Danny...................

If I made my Tele sound as good Id be a very very happy man..Not many of the greats left to show all those 'shredders' just how to do it....Practice...I must practice....more.

Guthrie and Gilbert are pretty godly, but they're on the same plateau as Danny in my opinion. These guys ooze music without having to think about it. Danny had an encyclopedic knowledge of his niche, much like Guthrie and Gilbert each do. If you treat music like a language, you'll realize that being able to "talk" really fast just makes you an annoying asshole. Sure, it's spectacular visually, but what about the musical content? What you "say" is what matters. Listen to Jeff Beck.
