Anyone who's ever even thought about singing an Aussie folk song has probably had a go at this tune.
It's a traditional song of the Australian bush, the origins of which go way back to the early days of white settlement...perhaps even before
Given that the lyrics talk about leaving old England's shore, the tune may have come from England or Ireland...I really have no idea.
It is also known as "With My Swag ALL On My Shoulder".
This version was released in Australia in 1982 as the flipside of a Festival 45, K-8923.
The A side was "(You"ve Gotta Be) Fair Dinkum", which I've also uploaded to YouTube.
Both tracks were also issued on the 1982 LP "Fair Dinkum J.W."
