In 1972 this was My wife and I favorite song. We did just that, went to the country built us a home, etc....She's gone now but it was a wonderful life. Thanks for the great idea, John.

I think this is one of my favorite songs By John Prine, although this version is much faster then the origanal which I prefer. He apparently made this after his first tour in Vietnam. He later speaks of going to the wall with some of his ex Vet friends from the Nam and they all broke down in tears upon seeing the names of all the friends they lost, Who can blame him for going to Montreal rather then having to go back to The Nam? I believe he is more well known there then there in Canada he is a household name there. Howevever not here the country for which he fought for and born in the U.S as well, and lost many friends. May God bless him!!!

This reminds me of the girl I've loved all my life, even after I left her for another !! Stupidest thing I ever did !! She died awhile back, another man's wife. So, there's a lesson learned, all those year's lost to another !! Now, we're both mourning for her, not to mention the rest of her family. RIP, Kathy !!!
