Do you suffer from the heartbreak of banality surely a rye mind like John does and he makes a bittersweet song to lighten the load. Wise beyond his years back then. Thankx for the post.

I discover a John Prine song every other day that I've never heard. This one is fantastic. Love the man and his songs. He's the absolute best. Thanks for posting

My father in law was homeless and idolized John Prine but couldn't afford a ticket, (this was in Madison Wisconsin) him and his friend played covers outside of the show when somebody came up and not only gave them tickets but backstage passes., turned out to be Prine's son who enjoyed the cover. Have a ticket stub and guitar signed by one of the greatest.

I have seen REM Oasis Neil Young Kings of Leon Pearl Jam Eels Stephen Stills Van Morrison and practically every other band on the planet but earlier last year I got to see John Prine and I know I will never be at a gig that good again. Superb. A real artist.

I went to see John Prine in the late 70's at a little place place called "The Bottom Line" in Greenwich Village when I was living in NJ. He came out with a smallish group which also included a drummer of all things. I was thinking don't tell me this guy is going to go the way of Bob Dylan. Well, he did about 6 numbers when they took a break and he came back alone just him and his guitar and for the rest of the night all he did was requests. He gave himself to us.

Had this album when it was new! House burned down in 1975 along with my great record collection and yes all my childhood souvenirs! The original album with the fantastic cryin pedal steel along with crackling of the needle bouncing up and down in perfect rhythm could never be duplicated. I still remain a Prine fan today but don't think I will ever get to see him, don't believe he will ever come near Little Rock Arkansas and I don't blame him for that.

It's a Great way to teach asking a Question you already know. When the other person is Enlightened They think they've thought up something. Gives them a good feeling. Peace to You
