When we were dating in our college years my husband often called for this song in various venues : the first I'd heard it. His Dad was a signal corps officer in Europe during WWII. Lovely version.

Just an absolutely lush and lovely version of this beautiful song. As always, any song that John chooses to sing becomes his own. Thank you for putting this on YouTube so others can hear his magnificent voice.

My father went ashore in a tank at Juno Beach on D Day and he always used to say this was one of the best songs of World War 2 no matter who had written or sung it!

My Dad was a ball turret gunner on B-17's. He used to talk about this song and how they listened to the German broadcasts to hear it. He couldn't sing a lick and he couldn't speak German but after all the years he still had this song memorized.

I've been looking for this song for a long time, since I first heard it nearly a decade ago. I love Marlene Dietrich's performance, but there is something just...magical... about John McDermott's interpretation. Thank you.
