This Irish love song is based on the true story of Grace Evelyn Gifford Plunkett, who was active in the Irish Republican movement. She is mainly remembered for marrying Joseph Plunkett in Kilmainham Jail only a few hours before he was executed for his part in the 1916 Easter Rising.

This was recorded live in Glenn Gould Studio in Toronto. It was an extroidinary show and John was in marvelous voice. I have heard Anthony Kearns sing it many times when I saw the Irish Tenors with John. Anthony's version is also beautiful but I love the heart in John's voice. As always, McDermott rocks

Anything Anthony Kearns sings is wonderful. I'll have to hear it again.

This is my favorite "protest" song. So heartbreaking and it is a true story. Thank so much for this one. I only knew of Ronan Tynan's version, but Mcdermott does it right, too. Once again, Thanks. Erin Go Bragh
