You know when some people get rich and famous, they wear nicer clothes, and sometimes become stuck up. Here's John, wearing some Nikes, he chucked on a sweater and some big jeans, nodded his head to David and played his ass off. Great job.

Close, but not quite. He's using a very rare overdrive pedal, an eric clapton es 335, a two rock stack, which has all since been discontinued, and by the looks of it a reverb and maybe a compressor pedal. Yes you can get pretty close, fundamentally all you need a blackface amp, a semi hollow and a decent gain pedal, but it's kinda hard to get that tone with gear that's mostly custom, apart from the blues breaker, which is vintage.

not necessarily... I can come pretty close to that with my Fender Blues Jr. and my modded out Gretsch Electromatic with some different pickups... I would say the two together set me back like 1400 dollars... Which is how much his signature strat set me back... It's not about money to a certain extent... It's about touch and knowing where to turn the knobs... Yeah that 335 has untouchable tone but you can still come close on a budget...

Ok... Now I'm a HUGE mayer fan... honestly... there are few bigger than me... I know most of his songs on guitar and have played a great number at open mics.... he shaped the way I play and the way I write songs... but to say he is any less of an artist than Eminem is ridiculous... For their crafts, they both have an immense amount of soul and talent... No one can put words together the way Eminem can... They are both, as far as I'm concerned, one of the best at what they do...

Eminem is nothing compared to John, sir. John has more soul in his little pinky finger than Eminem has in his whole body. @sadboyjon
