Here is my restored & remastered version of John Lennons home recording demo of "Solitude" (or "Stranger's Room") which evolved to "I'm losing you" a bit later.

Demo recorded probably somewhere around 1979-1980, but no one really knows.

I hope I did it right, it was my first attempt to remaster a demo tape.

What I did: corrected the pitch to my liking, added Echo & Chorus, removed noise/hiss/clicks (not all though), doubletracked the whole thing and tried to bring the vocals more forward, with the echo hopefully adding to the intensity of John's soulful singing.

Download the song (7zip'd .mp3):

Comments, rating, critique and suggestions are very much appreciated.

Enjoy!

This is also part of "UltiMATEly",

a compilation of most of the Lennon demo's I worked on, put together on a hypothetical album 'Ultimately' (with complete Album art, wee!)

Yeah these are nice Pictures:) ive seen the one where hes playing dead when they were on a rooftop somewhere and the rest of the beatles are looking down over him. I didnt know about the realtationship of him and May untill recently. John and Yoko just werent getting along so Yoko sent her friend May over with him when John went to California. So she basically set her up with him LOL. thats crazy because they were married. but yet again they got married way to quick after knowing each other.

Np, glad you like! :) Yep that's John on that photo, it's another one taken by May. Dunno about the story of that one, maybe he just relaxed but afaik John, he could have been playing floating deadman or sth. He always had this kinda weird black humour, e.g. he played dead in that '68 Beatle-photo shooting by the river, also he posed as if he was knocked down by his psychodelic Rolls Royce in '67 and so on. But maybe it's just a snapshot and I'm reading too much into it.

Hey thanks for posting this! Love the photos and song its nice to hear the demos. John Died 16 years before I was born, I love looking at the photos from the lost weekend. John just looks so damn Hot to me in those days. He was always a good looking man. but he Just looks so happy and healthy. IS that really him at 4:28.? he looks different. Maybe its just because his hair is wet and his eyes are closed.

what does he say at 1:40 to 1:46?

@sunriseRISE I think it suited his desired image a bit more, you know, the R&R type of guy, and in doing so it was more commercial but I like both versions.

@kreeepyy Thanks for your comments! The pic in question is - like most of the other pics in that video - a scan from May Pang's Book 'Instamatic Karma' which is a great read for the dedicated fan, if I may say so.

And yeah can you tell me that where did you get the picture at 3:40??

4:38, John's smile is pretty much similar to the famous picture of The Beatles when they first arrived in America at the JFK airport! But here you can obviously see his "Grown Up" version!
