A bittersweet song to me. Singing about something happy, yet at times hearing it brings me to tears.

You below saying nobody bigger than Jesus, come on these days you have to be a bit thick to think Jesus died and rose up again.this is the rubbish we are fed in schools when young, not saying he didn't live but bible is bullshit,no more than a fairy storey,Jesus was probably just a preacher of peace no more, how can people be so shallow and believe in something that can't be proven, same as god?

Wow, this is better than the "reunited Beatles" version! This is like 1966 Brian Wilson singing "Surf's Up" by himself at the piano -- it became the basis for the final track because he got it perfectly right the first time. I never liked the Beatles version of this song, and I blamed the song itself, but it turns out they sped it up, raising the pitch and destroying the melancholy mood. This demo has very little wrong with it. It's quite complete. I don't see where there's any room for McCartney or anyone else to get a songwriting credit on it. (unless they simply cut the tape in half and inserted a bridge). Thanks for posting this. This goes beyond curiosity; it's genuine listening material.

Even George Harrison said While he was writing and recording songs about GOD, John was in next studio playing with lyrics about there being no god and Johns Later stance about God(s) & Religion upset him

...You do know that John converted to christianity during the last 5 years of his life, correct?

Wow and I thought the anthology version was good. Bare - bones and honest! In hindsight this is better than what Paul, George, Ringo and Jeff tried to do. No disrespect to their efforts.

a great version of this song. So subtle but so touching. John`s less polished versions of many song show that he did not need technology to shine. His genius shows through in these early versions. What could have been if he were around another decade or so??

he didnt mean it likke that my friend, he was trying to say that by not actually paying so much attention to religion you can see that we are not so different with induism and other religions which leads to war
