John Joe Kelly plays the bodhran accompanying Michael McGoldrick at the first gig for the

Temple bar trad fest. This gig took place in the brilliant setting of Christ Church in Dublin.

I've been to a lot of gigs to hear these two but this was probably one of the best.

What was the song at the beginning? Kind of sounded like the mist on the mountain jig

Of course when I realized it was the great micheal mcgoldrick. So lovely to hear and watch a country that treasures it's music so much. It is wonderful the sing the songs, learn about the history and wonderful to be apart of.

I don't like it when they play part of the tune to warm up, it takes the suspense and thrill out of it. Sean O'Riada and the Chieftains knew not to do that because they inherited a healthy respect of superstition and ambiance from the ancestors. This music was devised to be spontaneous and intuitively technical, not static or rehearsed.Take in foreign influences but don't adopt them as if they were better. Trust me the whole world envies your old indigenous arts, only if you knew that a century ago or two more could have been preserved :/. Great video tho.

Wow Bodhran is amazing, I didn't hear about it until a few days ago. I'm surprised of the variety of tones it has. Sorry, bad English
